Katsina state transport Authority was inherited from Kaduna State transport authority when the state was created in 1987 by the military administration of General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida Although the organisation was shut down in 1990 by the then State military administrator Col. Yahaya J. Madaki but was however re-established in 1992 by the first executive Governor of Katsina State Alhaji Sa’idu Barda through the advice of Rt. Hon. KTSTA is a Governmental non-profitable organization headed by the General Manager ably assisted by management members which includes the Secretary, workshop manager, operations manager, director planning research and statistics (PRS), director finance and account, chief internal Auditor among others.

The governor gave this order when he called an emergency meeting with the Katsina State Transport Authority, KTSTA, on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at the Katsina State Government House. Dr. Dikko Umaru Radda explained the purpose of the emergency meeting to bring ease of transportation to the people of Katsina state due to the withdrawal of fuel subsidy by the federal government. The meeting was attended by the Management members, Haruna Musa Rugoji (GM), Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Works, Housing and Transport, and other staff. The governor expressed his grief over the situation travelers found themselves in and instructed the Katsina State Transport Authority not to increase the cost of transport for domestic traffic. In the end, he the Authority to bring him a report so that it will be easier for travelers in Katsina State.
